Focus on Creation

At Caucasus Cinema, you’ll spend all your time making films. The challenges of making a quality film in a single week in a new place requires collaboration and full immersion. You are making films from the morning coffee to the midnight chase scene. So is everyone else. This combination of adventure and creative output makes the experience so uniquely enriching.

The weeklong production time require mutual reliance, which makes for rapid friendships.

Some films begins with an original piece of music heard in a taxi - others are written months in advance. There is no formula and participants have the opportunity to try entirely new approaches and work in new styles every week.

The goal of Caucasus Cinema is to bring emerging filmmakers and storytellers from around the world to participate in Georgia’s rich filmmaking tradition. Each week, every participant is striving for artistic excellence in their film, focused entirely on the magic of making impossible things happen.

Dozens of these diverse stories combine for a fresh vision of Georgia today, enriching both the artists’ portfolio and the reputation of Georgia abroad. International participants will have the opportunity to incorporate the region’s culture and landscape in their work, while local creatives can collaborate with international peers and broaden their creative network.

In addition to traditional filmmaking skills, musicians and journalists will participate to offer opportunities for collaborative documentaries, music videos and other forms of multimedia storytelling.

Caucasus Cinema is inspired by Cinemadamare, which has been creating a similar environment for thousands of emerging filmmakers for twenty years in Italy.
